Press Conference is Over – Ticket Sale Starts on Monday!
The press conference for this year' Flora Theatre Festival took place Wednesday 4th April. Petr Nerušil, director of the festival and dramaturge Jan Žůrek introduced the main programme sections – Against the Wall, Gegen die Wand and Visegrad Performing Arts. The rich off program offers many other productions, concerts, discussions, and workshops and Olomouc will become the centre of Czech theatre world for eleven days – there is a lot to look forward to!
The Festival as a Platform for Cultivation of Opinions
We decided to noticeably broaden the “communication between the audience and the stage” with regards to its popularity among last year’s festival goers based on a number of positive reactions. The newest edition of the festival will provide discussions about all the productions in the main programme!
Congrats to Tereza!
Tereza Dočkalová was awarded the Thalia Award for an Outstanding Performance for her role of Nora in the Ibsen drama Nora (A Doll's House) by Divadlo pod Palmovkou theatre at the ceremony yesterday.
And we are all the more happy that we will feature this production directed by Jan Nebeský at our festival on Friday 18 May!
Actors in the Roles of Musicians
We are finalising an interesting music programme in cooperation with friends from Druhý domov café, who are going to run their bar at the festival circus tent. Look out for a number of interesting concerts and DJ sets!
Flora Invites Audiences to Various Interesting Venues
Flora will invite audiences to atypical city settings which the creative and untiring team of technicians regularly adapts to fit the needs of the festival. The events of the 22nd Flora Theatre Festival will take place at 12 different venues all around Olomouc!
Flora Theatre Festival 2018
The 22nd Flora Theatre Festival will take place in Olomouc from 10 to 20 May.
The eleven-day non-competition festival will feature 29 productions in the main programme (15 of them from abroad) around 80 events altogether. Olomouc will host theatre-makers from 9 countries.

The festival pieces Macbeth – Too Much Blood (Divadlo Na zábradlí, directed by David Jařab) and The Thief's Journal (Divadlo Masopust, directed by Jan Nebeský) – together with The Lantern by Divadlo v Dlouhé theatre, directed by Hana Burešová – received the same amount of votes in the survey of Czech Theatre Critics and were named the Productions of 2017.
Against the Wall!
The emblem and characteristic trait of the Flora Theatre Festival is its clear dramaturgical definition. This year's festival motto is “Against the Wall” (“Gegen die Wand” in German and “Proti zdi” in Czech).
