Eliška Brtnická (1983), the most renowned Czech trapeze female acrobat, studied non-verbal theatre at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague where she continues in her doctoral studies focused on choreography of aerial acrobatics. During her study trips, she visited and worked in Finland, Spain and France where she graduated from a year course of circus dramaturgy at the prestigious French circus school CNAC in Châlons-en-Champagne in 2017. She is the founder and at the moment also artistic director of the Cirkus Mlejn ensemble. Her work is highly influenced by Japanese culture mainly the calligraphy, butoh dance, and the Shu-Ha-Ri philosophy. She takes an interest in combining new circus and visual art, movement and installation in her work. She mainly performs in her own projects such as, No Brain No Pain and FeRPLAY (both 2015), but also works with other artists e.g. Ilona Jäntti from Finland (Dynamo 2012, Fejka 2015).
